Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 3 stalks green onions, sliced
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 2 cups steamed jasmine rice
Instructions:
- Heat vegetable oil in a 12-inch cast iron or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Add the ground beef and break it into small crumbles. Cook without stirring too frequently until the meat is mahogany-colored and crisp on the edges. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger; sauté for 60 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir constantly for 2–3 minutes until the sauce bubbles and thickens into a velvety glaze that clings to the beef.
- Spoon the beef over bowls of steamed jasmine rice. Top with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
