Ingredients:

  • 1 lb lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 3 stalks green onions, sliced
  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
  • 2 cups steamed jasmine rice

Instructions:

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a 12-inch cast iron or non-stick skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add the ground beef and break it into small crumbles. Cook without stirring too frequently until the meat is mahogany-colored and crisp on the edges. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger; sauté for 60 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Pour in the soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir constantly for 2–3 minutes until the sauce bubbles and thickens into a velvety glaze that clings to the beef.
  5. Spoon the beef over bowls of steamed jasmine rice. Top with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.
